Kailian Zhang was one of the female employees at the production line at Volvo CE Shanghai plant. In 2009, Kailian, who first visited Volvo to accompany a friend for an interview, soon became an official assembler at the Main team of plant and has been working on the front line for more than a decade.

张开莲是沃尔沃建筑设备上海工厂生产线的一名女员工。2009年，原本陪朋友参加工作面试的她，却戏剧性地成为了沃尔沃主体班组的一名装配工。迄今为止，张开莲已在一线兢兢业业工作了逾十年。

All Volvo CE plant employees routinely participates in “Continuous Improvement” activities. At the very beginning, this was an especially difficult task for Kailian. In fact, because of her limited experience in the profession, many tasks that came naturally to others at first felt impossible to Kailian. To catch up, Kailian proactively signed up for a number of trainings offered by company, such as “7+1 Wastes”, “Volvo Production System” and so on. Today, “continuous improvement” has deeply taken root in Kailian’s heart.

“持续改进”是沃尔沃工厂里每位员工都要参与的一项常规活动，但这对于当时刚加入沃尔沃的张开莲来说，却是一项十分困难的工作。由于缺乏经验，别人信手拈来的改进建议和想法，张开莲却常常无从下手。为了弥补这一不足，张开莲主动参加了例如“7+1种浪费”“沃尔沃生产系统”等多项相关培训。如今，持续改进的理念已经深深地植根在她心中。

Kailian’s motto is “Hard working, Simple living”, which she demonstrates through her meticulousness in work. She always carefully checks the condition and amount of materials before installation. She also verifies every part and installs each part in strict accordance with operating procedures. Kailian is also accredited for always keeping the production line performance of the plant at its best with her impressive assembly accuracy. On the key to success, Kailian advises, “Take each process seriously and always check one more time than others do.”

“简单做人，认真做事” 一直是张开莲崇尚的人生信条。在工作中她始终一丝不苟——安装前仔细检查物料、认真核对每个零部件、严格按照操作流程安装每一个零部件。张开莲的装配准确率始终保持在生产线前列，“认真对待每一道工序，永远比别人多检查一道”则是她取得这一成就的秘诀。

Kailian is keenly aware of the importance of the application of theoretical knowledge in practical work and continues to learn. After Kailian graduated from the junior college of Shanghai Dian Ji University, she is now going on to complete a bachelor's degree, majoring in mechanical design, manufacturing and automation.

张开莲深知理论知识对实际工作的重要性。因此，在保质保量完成工作的同时，她仍不忘了为自己充电。在上海电机学院的专科毕业后，有着两个孩子的她顺利通过了2020年的成人高考，继续在上海电机学院攻读学士学位，主修机械设计、制造及自动化。

As a key staff of the team, Kailian is not only very dedicated to her own work, but also very willing to help others to avoid operational risks and ensure product quality from time to time. Kailian enjoys working in Volvo family, where everyone supports each other and shares the goal to make Volvo Group a better brand.

作为班组里的关键员工，张开莲不仅对自己的工作十分专注，也非常乐于帮助其他同事，不时地主动提醒大家注意规避操作风险，保障产品质量。在她看来，在沃尔沃工作就像在一个大家庭里一样，彼此之间相互学习相互帮助，大家共同奋斗的目标就是一起把沃尔沃集团品牌做得更好。

Speaking of future, Kailian would like to integrate what she learns from university with what she does at work. She will learn more about the core processes related to engines and MCV from other teams, develop multiple skills and try her best to become the best senior assembler in the plant. Kailian believes that her hardworking and devoted spirit can also make a good example for her children.

谈起未来的计划，张开莲表示她打算利用在职本科学习更多的机械设计制造及自动化的原理，并将学到的知识和工作岗位有机地结合起来，以所在的班组为单位，学习其它班组中和发动机、主控阀相关的核心工序，培养多项技能，成为工厂中最优秀的资深装配工。在生活方面，张开莲相信她这种努力学习、认真工作的态度可以影响到孩子们，为他们做一个好的榜样。
